ProLine MTB coaching was founded by professional rider Matt Simmonds with the goal of helping riders to improve and have more fun on their bikes.

Matt raced downhill mountain biking professionally for 14 years. During which time he rode for some of the top teams on the circuit, including Cannondale, Madison Saracen, and Chain Reaction Cycles Nukeproof.


During his downhill career Matt competed on the world stage, making the podium and regularly finishing within the top 20 in UCI World Cup races. He has also competed for Great Britain in the World Championships multiple times.

  • 2nd Méribel UCI World Cup 2014

  • 6th Overall UCI World Cup Series 2014

  • 9th World Championships 2014

  • British Downhill Series Overall Champion 2012 / 2016

  • 3rd Overall British Downhill Series 2017




Matt is a CTC qualified skills instructor with over 10 years of coaching experience. He is passionate about helping people to progress and have more fun on their bikes.


He's fully first aid trained, DBS checked, and has CTC cycle activity provider insurance.

James Anderson

James has a passion for riding, which shows in his 10 years racing Downhill at National and European level. Having previously worked for roost mountain bike holidays in the south of Spain and British Cycling here in the United Kingdom he has what it takes to get most out of every rider.


Coaching and qualifications

James is a British cycling qualified coach with an honours degree in sport and exercise science. Having studied the human body`s reaction to exercise during his degree, James is able to break down the mechanics of movement and relay that to the rider in order to achieve the best results.

He’s also fully first aid trained, DBS checked, and has CTC cycle activity provider insurance.
